About PHSS
From a junior school established in 1983 to a higher secondary institution, PHSS has grown alongside the community it serves.
Our Story
Phuentsholing Higher Secondary School was established in 1983 with 200 students and 9 teachers when the earlier primary school in town could no longer accommodate the growing student population.

Classes (VII–XII)

PHSS began as a junior school serving Classes IV to VIII, created to respond to the fast-growing educational needs of Phuentsholing.

In 2000, Dasho Zangley Drukpa, then Chukha Dzongda, formally inaugurated the school’s upgrade to high school status.

In 2003, the school was upgraded again to Higher Secondary School level and began offering Classes XI and XII.

The first batch of Class XII students graduated in 2004 with a 100% result, setting a strong academic benchmark for the years that followed.

In 2009, 2012, and 2013, the school received top ten school recognition. In 2014, a Class X student secured third position nationally and the school also received the Golden Youth Award.

Staff Welfare
The Staff Welfare Policy ensures that teachers and non-teaching staff receive structured support during significant personal and professional events.
The programme is chaired by the Head of Staff Affairs with committee support and provides manual, material, and financial support depending on need.
